“Outskirts'' was culled from a bobby poem circa 2008. It deals with the near misses and 'close-but-not-quite' affairs of love (and occasionally lust masquerading as love); and above and beneath that, a deeper and more mysterious longing. It’s written from the perspective of a bandit of sorts who is just beyond the gates trying to cross over to splendor, and the anguish that they experience with it being just out of reach. Many of us spend most of our lives here, at some distance from what we long for most, the bouts of ecstasy and union much too fleeting.

Both the "radio edit" and the album version leave the listener here at an unresolved place. We are alive, after all.
