stepper

about

Stepper is a song that celebrates the dance floor as an equitable, cultural, and even transcendental space. It’s a respectful dance floor overture to a prospective partner based on a desire for shared experience, rather than a transactional exchange. It aims to be palpably sexy but decidedly not sexist.

This song, like much of bobby's work, was born from pragmatism. He needed something he could do his step to, hence the utilitarian title.

lyrics

step closer to me
it's time we get acquainted
these rituals
they're not so antiquated
sometimes you must use your words right now just use your body
just use your body use your body

i can tell you're brilliant
i see it in your gaze
it holds me just as firmly
as your arms or your legs
i'm in your pocket
needless to say

this is no basic come-on
or crude advance
take a step towards me
why don't we take a chance
it's not about what happens
when the night ends
